Achtung Berlin
New Berlin Film Award - presenting movies from Germany's capital city

An entire week of movies, documentaries & short film made in Berlin

Achtung Berlin – New Berlin Film Award began in 2004, and since then it has been highlighting the best movies that Germany’s capital city has to offer. The films shown in this festival capture some of the spirit of Berlin, and attendees have the opportunity to see movies shortly before they are released in the cinema.

The competition is organized into several categories. “Made in Berlin-Brandenburg” is the standout category, but there are also “Berlin Independent” and “Berlin Documents” which celebrate outstanding filmmaking in all its variety. The directors whose work is shown at Achtung Berlin can be young or old, but all contribute to the vibrant, creative, experimental ethos that makes this festival, and this city, what it is.
