- "Happy Birthday - The Mainzer is being cleared!" These are the first words Osswalt Buss hears on the 12th November 1990. The night before, he was sitting peacefully in a bar on the Mainzer and celebrated his birthday. Noone wants to give up the free-for-all zone after the autumn of '89. In just a few months, over 100 buildings in the east part of the city are occupied by squatters, the ownership situation is unclear. The scene of squatters is supposed to be eliminated shortly after the reunification. For two days, the police, squatters and sympathizers have a battle. The city burns.
With a disproportionate police operation, the buildings are cleared on the morning of the 14th of November 1990.
