Railway Station
An emotionless and offish portrait of the Warsaw Central Railway Station, a flagship development of PZPR in the seventies. A platform - someone asleep, someone waiting for a train, someone arriving… and the cameras installed there are watching everyone and everything. Terrifying and creepy! While the film was being shot, the police arrested some of the material, suspecting that they might find a recording of the activities of a wanted criminal. This wasn’t true, but the situation, which had deprived Kieślowski of both his directorial “control over the material” and the responsibility he took for his central figures, had some impact on his future decision to stop making documentaries.
