A king notices every morning that his daughters have worn-out shoes. However, the whole chamber is guarded and locked. Once a soldier comes and steals an apple. The king promises to let him off a penalty, if he finds out what his daughters do every night. On two nights, the soldier doesn't see anything, but on the third night he comes to the dance-hall, where the princesses are always staying with their princes. He finds out the secret but doesn't tell it to the king since his cloak, with which he can make himself invisible, gets lost unnoticeably and so the the princesses can see him. Nevertheless, the princesses tell the king the truth. The soldier marries the youngest princess, who is the only one who doesn't have a husband.
