Between Insanity and Beauty – The Art Collection of Dr. Prinzhorn
Christian Beetz takes viewers on a journey through the archives of a very special art collection - "Prinzhorn" is the most regarded collection of art pieces created by psychiatric patients in the world. Since its creation in the 1920s, it has both influenced the psychiatric practice as well as famous artists such as Paul Klee, Alfred Kubin and Max Ernst. The film sheds light on the development of the "crazy art" collection, but also takes a look at how it's still growing today. Following two psychiatric patients, the film asks questions about today's definitions of art and sickness.
