A fairytale romantic comedy, freely based on the novella by Eichendorff. A father sends his son, whom he calls good-for-nothing (Taugenichts), out into the world, since he isn’t of any help at home. Poor and without labor, he can only rely on his violin while wandering from place to place, enjoying his freedom. Along the way, he falls in love with beautiful Flora who lives in a castle and seems unattainable. Starring Hannelore Elsner - winner of Germany's biggest film awards. Oscar winning Tom Hanks was planning a film version of Dean Reed's life, which is certainly a story of its own.
